15 Dec Music Tourism for Christmas in Spain
If you are looking for a different and original Christmas holiday here we offer you three musical plans for you to visit Spain during the last days of the year.
Jazz in Valencia
Valencia is a city east of the Iberian Peninsula, with beautiful beaches, a mild climate and the birthplace of paella, a dish based on rice.
In the old part of the city is the Carmen neighborhood with narrow streets and historic buildings. We invite you to walk through all its corners and, above all, do not miss the Plaza de la Virgen, full of life at any time of day and night.
Our musical plan in Valencia for Christmas is at Calle 28 (Baja Street) in the Jimmy Glass Jazz Bar, a place with a lot of charm and perfect for this type of music.
On December 25 they celebrate their special Christmas concert with the saxophone of the great Perico Sambeat.
Gastronomic recommendation: La Pilareta Bar in Calle Moro Zeit 13 (Moro Zeit Street). Specialty in Valencian cloches, tapas and good white wines.
Zambomba in Jerez
Jerez de la Frontera is one of the most important flamenco epicenters in the world. City located in the province of Cádiz in the south of Andalusia and Spain. The Flamenco Christmas Carols are a popular tradition that can be heard in every corner of the city. It is a very happy and popular music. You have to see a Zambomba at least once in your life. On the 23rd of December, a Flamenco Zambomba is held at Plaza Belén at 2:30 pm.
We recommend a tasting in one of the many good wineries that exist throughout the city.
Classical music in León
Now we take a leap to the north of Spain. León is an unmissable stop on the Camino de Santiago. To fight the cold it is best to take a walk through the Húmedo neighborhood and enter the Cathedral during the day to enjoy the impressive stained glass windows and their colors when the sun passes through them.
In the Auditorium of León, on December 23, it offers a special Christmas concert with waltzes and polkas by the Strauss Family.
In León it is very typical to go from bar to bar trying their delicious tapas. Our recommendation is the Bar El Rebote in Plaza San Martín 9 (San Martin Square) where you can try their delicious croquettes.
