This musical trip will take us to the South West, to Caceres, a World Heritage city according to the UNESCO as it covers the Roman, Moorish, Gothic and Renaissance architecture.
This region is well known for its diverse landscape full of lakes and forests. Also, it is not possible to pass by without trying their delicious Iberian cured ham, cheese and wonderful wines.
Womad festival www.womad.org has been running for more than 20 years completely free. The concerts take place in many stages around the city with bands from all over the world. It’s a party for the people.
We check-in at the Madrid hotel where we will meet our travel guide who will inform us about the highlights of the trip, then we will leave to sample the first night in the city.
We start the day discovering the essential spots of Madrid, Spain’s capital, the old part but also the trendy quarters for good shopping. After a nice walk, time to taste traditional tapas accompanied with a good local wine. We will also have the chance to experience a good flamenco show as most of the more talented flamenco artists live in Madrid.
We leave Madrid and take our way to Caceres to arrive there right on time for lunch which will give us enough energy to get to know this medieval city full of history and so well preserved.
At night the festival starts and we let ourselves feel the music from many parts of the world for 2 days.
Tired but happy we return to Madrid where we say good bye until the next trip.
